About Us

The Mobility Action Learning Platform

We’re advancing Upward Mobility through this member-only, collaborative platform. We have designed it to be a space for conversations, information sharing, collaboration, learning and innovation. Thank you for being a part of this growing network.

About The Mobility Action Learning Network

The Mobility Action Learning Network is a cohort of 26 teams of local leaders across the US creating and bolstering locally driven programs, policies, and actions that promote upward mobility from poverty and racial equity. The Network members represent nine regions and localities, each with a population ranging from 58,000 to 1.4 million people.

Our Goals for the Mobility Action Learning Network

The goal of the Mobility Action Learning Network is to equip mobility action teams with data, promising practices, and opportunities to learn from one another. They will also have the support of peer communities working toward similar goals. We expect members to become ambassadors for upward mobility and racial equity in their communities after leaving the Network.

Our Learn and Share Tracks

Each learn and share track listed below highlights a range of concepts critical to advancing upward mobility and racial equity; although divided by goals, tracks overlap in topics and themes.

What Do Network Members Gain?

  • Technical Assistance in the form of virtual workshops, peer-learning opportunities, and advisory support calls with Urban experts. There are four tracks, and within each track, Urban hosts a series of workshops based on the framework’s concrete tools and provide peer-learning opportunities where Network members can connect with other members working toward similar goals.

  • Trainings on the Upward Mobility Framework. Urban offers trainings on topics critical to promoting upward mobility and advancing racial equity. The trainings cover topics that align with the three-part definition of mobility from poverty (economic success, power and autonomy, and dignity and belonging), the Upward Mobility Framework, and the Mobility Metrics.

  • One-on-one advisory support calls. Urban holds meetings to connect mobility action teams with subject matter experts and to provide advisory support. In these meetings, teams receive feedback as they apply the lessons from the workshops, discuss roadblocks, and get resources and guidance on ways to accelerate local efforts to advance mobility.

  • All-network learning exchange. Up to three members from each mobility action team are invited to participate in an in-person learning exchange in Washington, DC, on January 24 and 25, 2024. At this event, participants will get to meet other members in the Network, receive trainings on the Upward Mobility Framework, and connect with experts in the field.
